    He is a Jewish actor best known for portraying a Nazi.
    Even outside of General Burkhalter, he was typecast as 'bad guy with a foreign accent.'
    He was married three times, divorced twice.

    He was performing at the Louise Dumont Theatre in Dusseldorf, Germany, when the Nazis took over, after which he was fired, arrested and beaten.
    After the Nazis annexed Austria, he fled for France and then the US.
    He served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II.
    His parents died in a concentration camp.
