Why Peoria, Arizona might be annoying:

    It has extremely hot and dry summers.
    During its time as a farming community, its farms were invaded by red ants and rattlesnakes.
    It is in Maricopa County and Yavapai County at the same time.
    In fact, most of the city's population resided on the side of Maricopa County.
    A fire destroyed the whole town as the firefighters from Phoenix and Glendale were too late to stop it (July 1917).
    Its economy suffered in the Great Depression until 1939.

Why Peoria, Arizona might not be annoying:

    Following a fire disaster, farmers had money and store owners helped rebuild the town during World War I.
    The Seattle Mariners and the San Diego Padres do spring training at the Peoria Sports Complex.
    Ichiro Suzuki settled a vacation home here.
    It is the home to the Challenger Learning Center of Arizona.
    It's only a short drive to Lake Pleasant Regional Park from here.
    It has the oldest Presbyterian Church in Arizona, built in 1899.
    It was on Money magazine's list of 'Top 100 Places to Live' (July 2008).
