Why he might be annoying:

He was a one-hit wonder who released a greatest hits album.
You needed a CB radio dictionary to understand most of ‘Convoy.’
All of his songs were about truck driving.
He had an unsuccessful comeback attempt in 1990.
He took on the persona of C.W. McCall, a character he developed for a Metz Baking commercial, for all of the songs he wrote.

‘Convoy’ was #1 on both the pop and country charts.
‘Convoy’ was so successful that it was made into a movie in the 1978 film, 'Convoy.'
He served two terms as mayor of Ouray, Colorado.
He has made guest appearances on King of the Hill and The Simpsons.
