Why she might be annoying:

Despite coming from a Democratic pedigree, she campaigned for her Republican son-in-law's gubernatorial bid (2003).
The Special Olympics are the butt of many jokes.
She rarely granted interviews.
She worked as a social worker in a West Virginia women's prison.
She was presented with more than a dozen honorary degrees.

Why she might not be annoying:

Inspired by her sister Rosemary, she became a lifelong advocate for the disabled.
The Special Olympics give athletic opportunities to the physically handicapped and mentally retarded.
She earned several humanitarian awards, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom (1984).
She lived a scandal-free life (impressive for a Kennedy).
Her image was featured on a commemorative US half dollar celebrating the Special Olympics (1995).
During WW II, she worked with the State Department, helping prisoners of war readjust to civilian life.
She graduated Stanford University with a degree in sociology.
