Why he might be annoying:

He was frenemies with Billy Graham.
He had an awkward interaction with Jane Fonda, when they appeared on The Dick Cavett Show together, after he said, ‘Jesus is the Son of God, you know,’ to which Fonda replied, ‘Maybe he is for you, but he’s not for me.’ (befuddled, he answered: ‘Well either he is or he isn’t’).
The mildly tense exchange led host Dick Cavett to attempt damage control, musing: ‘Oh, whatever happened to lighthearted show folk?’
He frequently clashed with the House of Lords and Anglican leadership in the church.

Why he might not be annoying:

He lost his mother to a car accident in 1927.
He spoke out against Apartheid in South Africa.
He supported the decriminalization of homosexuality in the 1960s.
He traveled with the debate club and spoke at multiple venues in the US as a young man.
He encouraged efforts to promote closer relations between Anglicans and the Eastern Orthodox.
He was a vocal critic of the Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet.
wo divers had found a number of gold and silver items in the River Wear in Durham that reportedly belonged to his personal collection (October 2009). It remains unclear as to how they ended up lost and discarded.
