    Born in Los Angeles, California
    Middle name was Alice
Portrayed Head Nurse Maggie Poole on '13 East' (1989-93)
Portrayed Principal Cecilia Hall on the TV series 'Popular' (1999-2001)
Acted in 'Born in East LA,' 'Outrageous Fortune,' 'Passed Away,' 'Under Cover,' 'Spellbinder,' 'Outbreak' and 'Ghosts of Mississippi'

Why she might be annoying:

Her voice had a kind of a grating snarl that tended to get her typecast as overbearing or antagonistic scolds.
She had the pretty dubious honor of being the first 'Fat Woman' shoe store customer to be insulted by Al Bundy on Married with Children.
This culminated in her character leading a veritable army of the show's 'Fat Women' customers (the show's term, not AiA's) to overtake Bundy at his shoe store and put him on trial in a final season episode titled 'Crimes Against Obesity.'
Those fat jokes sure get a lot darker when you realize that she suffered from blindness as part of complications from diabetes before dying of cancer only a few years later.

Why she might not be annoying:

She showed good humor even as jokes regularly centered on her weight.
She had a long and successful career in regional theatre before shifting mainly to character roles on television.
She was an extremely busy and in-demand television actress, doing guest spots on Baywatch, Family Ties and Murphy Brown.
Her roles on the stage tended to be more varied and diversified - such as a policewoman who helped defeat a criminal gang in Tom Trbovich's 'Free Ride' or in the title role in 'Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It All for You.'
She worked through her various illnesses until the final year of her life, her last appearance being on an episode of Diagnosis Murder.
She said of her health in a 1999 interview: 'I had tried crying and being in a snit about blindness, but that was real boring. I've learned to live with it as best I can, and I feel very blessed that this has happened.'
