Why he might be annoying:

    He was unceremoniously traded by the Rams, despite having been a mainstay in their lineup for nearly a decade.
    His head coaching stops never lasted more then three seasons.
    His coaching tenure in Washington was remembered for his team blowing a substansial lead in the final game of the season against the Dallas Cowboys, which essentially gifted them the NFC East title (1979).
    His 1989 University of Houston team was ineligible to play in a Bowl game, after they were slapped with major sanctions for violations which occurred before he came to the program.
    He oversaw his Oilers team go through one of the biggest playoff collapses in NFL history.
    His Oiler team surrendered a 32 point lead to the Buffalo Bills, losing the game in overtime (January 3, 1993).
    His 1993 Oilers team is regarded as one of the most dysfunctional teams in NFL history.
    He was fired by the Oilers after a 1-9 start (1994).

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was among a select few of players to reach the NFL after playing six-man football.
    He was one of the 'Junction Boys' that made the Texas A&M football team coached by Bear Bryant, which was forced to practice out in oppressive heat.
    He was forced to sit out the 1956 season after he was diagnosed with a malignant melanoma on his left arm.
    His first head coaching job with the WFL's Florida Blazers was remembered for him rallying the team to the World Bowl game, even though no one on the team had been paid in three months.
    He was credited with establishing the Run-and-Shoot offensive scheme, which was made popular by coaches in later years.
    He earned Coach of the Year honors during his tenure with Washington (1979).
    His tenure at the University of Houston was remembered for having a potent offense, but he was unable to showcase it on the national stage as a result of the sanctions against the school.
    He was able to get his players and coaches to put their differences aside as his Oilers team rallied to win 11 straight games and the AFC Central title after a 1-4 start (1993).
    He is the only person in football history to land head coaching positions in the NFL, NCAA, CFL, USFL and the WFL respectively.
    He was married for 50 years at the time of his death.
