Why he might be annoying:

He's egotistical.
He's broken Steppenwolf up and reformed it repeatedly and is presently using the name John Kay and Steppenwolf.
Despite moving to Canada from Germany with his family in 1948 he never became a Canadian citizen.
Neither he nor Steppenwolf has produced a hit in over forty years.
He adopted the name Steppenwolf for his band on the recommendation of a neighbor before he ever read the Herman Hesse novel.
He didn't write Steppenwolf's biggest hit, 'Born to Be Wild.'

Why he might not be annoying:

When he was less than a year old he and his mother fled East Germany to freedom in the west.
He is legally blind (completely color blind) and light sensitive which is why he almost always wears those cool shades.
In the song, Born to be Wild he became the first person to use the term, 'Heavy Metal' in a song.
He supports an elephant sanctuary in Tennessee.
He's been with his wife literally since the first day they met in 1965.
He helps refugees and helped build a school in Cambodia.
He learned English and about rock 'n roll listening to American and British armed forces radio in Germany.
In Steppenwolf, he founded one of the greatest rock bands in history.
Truth be told, he WAS Steppenwolf!
He has stayed out of trouble with the law and has kept his private life private.
