Why he might be annoying:

    He dropped out of high school at sixteen.
    He suffered from depression.
    After he moved to New York, he checked himself into McLean Psychiatric Hospital in Massachusetts.
    In 1966, he formed a bubble gum pop group called 'The Flying Machine,' which didn't even last a year.
    Soon afterwards, he became addicted to heroin. He moved to London and it got worse, so when he returned to the U.S and checked into a hospital in Massachusetts.
    He got into a motorcycle accident, breaking both of his hands, which forced him to stop performing for several months (1969).
    He divorced twice.

Why he might not be annoying:

    When he stayed at the psychiatric hospital, it helped inspire some of his early songs.
    He got his high school diploma after his stay at the hospital.
    He was able to stop his heroin addiction.
    Besides him, his family was also involved in music, his brother and sister were songwriters and his younger brother is a folk rock/jazz performer.
    His album, 'Greatest Hits' was given a diamond certification, selling more than ten million copies.
    In 2000, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
    Artists he has worked with include Stevie Wonder, Linda Ronstadt, Shawn Colvin and Yo-Yo Ma.
    One of his wives was Carly Simon and the two children he had with her are both involved in music.
    He received the 'Best Pop Male Vocal' Grammy in 1971, 1977 and 2001.
    He has been writing songs and playing guitar for more than 40 years and he is very influential to some of today's artists.
