It had a ridiculous premise that killed UPN's chance of being taken seriously.
It was pure blaxploitation.
It had incredibly bad special effects.
It lasted only one season (not too surprising, though).
It was protested by the NAACP.
On 'Star Trek,' James Doohan played a character named Scotty. On this show he played one named Pippen (Get it? Scotty Pippen).
Gary Coleman guest starred on the show.

Why Homeboys in Outer Space might not be annoying:

George Takei and Burt Ward guest starred on the show.
Over the years, it has become viewed by many people as 'So bad, it's good.'
It's probably pretty funny if you're stoned.
