Piloted the B-29 'Enola Gay' that dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan (August 6, 1945)
Promoted to Brigadier General (1959)

Why he might be annoying:

He wrote an autobiography.
He inadvertently helped usher in the Nuclear Age.
The atomic bomb he dropped on Hiroshima immediately killed over 80,000 Japanese civilians.
Thousands more would die later from radiation poisoning.
He said: 'We've never fought a damn war anywhere in the world where they didn't kill innocent people. If the newspapers would just cut out the shit: 'You've killed so many civilians.' That's their tough luck for being there.'

Why he might not be annoying:

He named the 'Enola Gay' after his mother.
He flew in 25 missions against Nazi-occupied Europe.
His dropping of the bomb quickened Japan's desire to surrender, ending World War II.
He served in the Air Force for almost thirty years, retiring in 1966.
He has been awarded numerous awards, including the Distinguished Flying Cross.
