Why he might be annoying:

Despite being considered a solid defensive player, he never won a Gold Glove Award.
He had a tendency to strike out frequently.
Some baseball pundits felt his strikeout ratio played a factor in the Cardinals decision to trade him.
He was injury prone in the later stages of his career.
He sat out the entire 2003 season as a result of it.
He was relegated to a bench role during his final major league season.

Why he might not be annoying:

He excelled in the lead off role during the majority of his tenure with the Cardinals.
He is the first rookie in the history of the Cardinals franchise to hit for the cycle (1991).
He was the first Cardinals player to record 20 home runs and 20 stolen bases in five seasons.
His move to the cleanup spot in the Cardinals batting order during the 1998 season helped Mark McGwire set the major league record (since broken) for home runs in a season.
He improved his batting styles under the guidance of Tony Gwynn during his season and a half with the Padres.
He hit the most career home runs in the history of the old Busch Stadium.
