Why he might be annoying:

    He never coached a full 82-game season in the NHL.
    His tenure in Edmonton took place during the lockout shortened season, while his tenure in Buffalo was impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
    He was the sixth head coach hired by the Sabres during the 2010's.
    His coaching style was described as being too European by NHL pundits.
    His defensive style of coaching didn't sit well with his players.
    He caused a stir in Buffalo, after he told reporters Jack Eichel was injured in the game, which prompted Eichel to go on the defensive and make comments which were contradictory to his.
    He was fired by Sabres, after he led the team on a 12-game losing streak (March 17, 2021).

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was able to play for the West German national team, due to his parents being German nationals.
    He was described as being a solid communicator with younger players by hockey pundits.
    He served as the head coach of the Swiss men's hockey team, and is credited with the growth of hockey in Switzerland.
    He served as the head coach for Team Europe at the 2016 World Cup of Hockey, at the same time he was chairman of Southampton FC.
    He was described as being extremly articulate and well-spoken by his peers.
    He is a member of the World Economic Forum, and has partaken in various speaking events which benefitted the cause.
    Prior to landing the Sabres head coaching job, he went incognito at various bars in the Buffalo area and spoke with fans about the team, and had them fooled when he got hired.
