Why they might be annoying:

    They took their name from a 1970film adaptation of Edith Nesbit's children's book.
    They were dismissed by Trouser Press as 'entirely routine.'
    They broke up in 1993, but Newby kept using the Railway Children name for records that were essentially solo projects.

Why they might not be annoying:

    They were teens when they released their first single.
    They opened for R.E.M. on a tour of Europe (1988).
    They hit #1 on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks chart with 'Every Beat of the Heart.'
    They reunited for several live shows to commemorate the 30th anniversary of their debut single (2016).
