The Resume

    (November 4, 1999-July 14, 2000)
    44 episodes
    Hosted by Chuck Woolery
    Aired on the FOX Network
    Produced by Dick Clark Productions
Premise: Six players answer a numerical question; the closest to the correct answer (or faster entry in case of a tie) would captain the five-player team that eventually formed
The top prize is $2 million (or $4 million in the case of Super Greed)

Why Greed might be annoying:

It was considered a shameless copycat of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire (although in many respects it was its own show).
Very few questions were about anything other than business or consumer habits.
After the halfway point, a randomly-selected contestant (‘the Terminator has chosen you’) had the chance to steal a teammate’s money – or captainship – and eliminate them from the game. This player received $10,000 regardless of the outcome. Only a handful of times was this option passed up.
More than one painfully obvious answer was eliminated by the Freebie (an option that could only be used once by any team to remove a predetermined wrong answer past the halfway point).
Poor Chuck had to suffer the indignity of having a question about his hosting career undo a team on the first question!
Rules and policies seemed to change constantly over its nine-month run.
Its grand champion, one Curtis Warren – renowned for his horrible rooster haircut reminiscent of the British rockers of the 80s – nailed more than $1.4 million on the subject of vintage television.

Why Greed might not be annoying:

It never pretended to be about anything but the money.
It was an all-or-nothing show, a way to gauge the nerve level of the team captain.
A disqualified team was allowed to return after a heated debate in the Internet community over a synonym.
It crowned its first million-dollar winner less than a month into its run.
Many viewers who were initially turned off by the premise came to embrace it once it began airing on the Game Show Network (2002).
Woolery was just as fan-friendly as Regis.
