They were called, 'The Blues Band,' before finally changing it to 'Blues Traveler.'
David Letterman was a sponsor of the band and they had over a dozen appearances in the first four years of the show.
Some of their shows were cancelled after John got into a serious car accident and had major injuries that prevented him from playing.
John used to be extremely obese and he had to undergo angioplasty.

Why they might not be annoying:

They're influenced by The Allman Brothers, The Grateful Dead and Led Zeppelin.
John wanted to be a harmonica player after seeing 'The Blues Brothers' and he had a huge fascination with an actor in that movie, John Belushi.
Mike died of an accidental drug overdose at 31 years old (August 20, 1999).
They have been compared to Spin Doctors, Hootie and the Blowfish, Counting Crows and Dave Matthews.
'Four' was a huge hit on the charts and went 4x platinum.
They performed their song, 'But Anyway' at the end of the comedy movie, 'Kingpin.'
    They performed at Woodstock 1994.
'Run-Around' was one of the biggest singles of 1995 and was most requested on a lot of radio stations and television networks.
