The Yanks put him on the restricted list after he went AWOL.
Joe Torre thought he left the team because he was upset over lack of playing time.
He claimed that he was suffering from depression and shouldn’t be placed on the restricted list (July 2003).
The Yankees requested that he get a medical evaluation at their expense but he refused (July 2003).
His father thought Bubba would be a good sports name and named him after a University of Tennessee Quarterback (Bubba Wyche).
The Yanks traded All-star outfielder Rondell White for him.
He played with five different teams in his first six major league seasons.

He was a fan favorite when he played for Tampa Bay.
He helped the New York Mets make the World Series in 2000.
He is not related to former Detroit Tiger shortstop Allan Trammell.
