Entrepreneur

The Resume

    (August 5, 1986- )
    Born in Denver, Colorado
    Middle name is Gates
    CEO of Thiel Capital
    President of the Thiel Foundation
Candidate for US Senate in Arizona (2022)
Lost to incumbent Senator Mark Kelly

Why he might be annoying:

He is a protege of Peter Thiel.
He came under fire for political views expressed on a CrossFit chat room and a LiveJournal blog.
He benefited from $15 million in funding from Thiel during his Senate primary campaign.
He constantly criticizes big tech, even as he has invested money in several major technology firms.
He threatened to primary Senator Martha McSally for 2020, claiming that her loss to Kyrsten Sinema in 2018 was a ‘winnable race’ (they would both end up losing to the same person but in different years...).
He denied embracing the Great Replacement Theory, even after cutting an anti-immigrant political ad saying ‘We're going to end this invasion.’
He tried to walk back his ‘100% pro-life’ stance after the Supreme Court’s ruling overturning Roe v. Wade, by scrubbing his website and changing five of his seven positions on the issue.
His view on the gun violence problem in America? ‘It's gangs. It's people in Chicago, St. Louis shooting each other. Very often, you know, Black people, frankly.’

Why he might not be annoying:

He married his high school sweetheart.
After graduating Stanford, he co-founded a successful software startup company.
As a student, his detailed notes on Peter Thiel’s lectures became an online sensation in the tech community and later the foundation for the book ‘Zero to One: Notes on Startups, or How to Build the Future.’
The book (co-authored with Thiel) became a <53492>New York Times #1 bestseller and is one of the most popular books on startups and venture capital.
Donald Trump lashed out at him for walking back support for his claims about the 2020 Presidential election.
He performed better than people expected he would in his debate with Mark Kelly.
