Why he might be annoying:

He put restrictions on press freedom, even though it is safeguarded by the Kazakh constitution.
He's not fond of Sacha Baron Cohen's character Borat, and tried to counteract his claims by shutting down his website (December 13, 2005).
Ironically, the movie Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan described him as having a mighty private body part (guess which one!).
His eldest daughter, Dariga, controls the Kazakh media.
He has been criticized as being slow on fighting corruption.
    He suppresses opposition in Kazakhstan.
He allegedly filled his own bank accounts with about $1 billion worth of oil revenues.
He forced his own daughter Dariga to divorce, and sentenced her ex-husband to 20 years in prison the following year (2007).
He won elections condemned as unfair.
He came to prominence in the Communist party through a riot called ‘Jeltoqsan’ (December 1986).

Why he might not be annoying:

He tried to defend his country’s reputation from Borat’s fictitious perceptions of Kazakhstan as an uncivilized country.
He uses Kazakhstan's abundance in oil resources to strengthen its economy.
    His father was a shepherd.
He sides with America in the War on Terror.
He was an Olympic torchbearer as part of the 2008 Summer Olympics torch relay.
He is a determined man who always perseveres.
He keeps Kazakhstan as a stable and multiethnic country.
