The Resume

    (March 17, 1933- )
    Born in Vicksburg, Mississippi
    Birth name was Myrlie Beasley
Wife of civil rights activist Medgar Evers
Founding member of the National Women's Political Caucus (1971)

Why she might be annoying:

She dropped out of college to marry Medgar Evers.
She ran twice for Congress from California's 2nd district and lost.
After the New Yorker ran a cartoon depicting a turban-clad Barack Obama giving a fist bump to a gun-toting Michelle (intended as a satire of the Obamas' critics), she said 'I realize there's more than one way to lynch somebody.'

Why she might not be annoying:

She was widowed twice - when Medgar Evers was murdered (1963) and when Walter Williams died from prostate cancer (1995).
Her long campaign to bring Medgar's killer to justice came to fruition when Byron de la Beckwith was finally convicted (1994).
After Evers' death she went back to school and earned a degree in sociology.
As a director of consumer affairs at ARCO, she developed the first corporate booklet for women in non-traditional jobs.
She was credited with restoring the NAACP's finances.
