The Resume

    (April 1, 1929- )
    Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
    Birth name is Jack Schachter
Regularly appeared in Roger Corman films
Acted in ‘Apache Woman (1955),’ ‘Day the World Ended (1955),’ ‘Gunslinger (1956),’ ‘The Oklahoma Woman (1956),’ ‘It Conquered the World (1956),’ ‘Swamp Women (1956),’ ‘Bayou (1957),’ ‘Naked Paradise (1957),’ ‘Not of This Earth (1957),’ ‘Rock All Night (1957),’ ‘The Viking Women and the Sea Serpent (1957),’ ‘Carnival Rock (1957),’ ‘Stakeout on Dope Street (1958),’ ‘The Little Shop of Horrors (1960),’ ‘Forbidden Island (1959)’ and ‘The Terror (1963)’

Why he might be annoying:

He looked like Jerry Lewis in Cinderfella.
He was profiled in ‘Names You Never Remember, With Faces You Never Forget.’
He’s only known for his turn in the original 'Little Shop of Horrors' as the slow-witted sad sack Seymour Krelboyne, who nourishes a bloodthirsty plant by killing and serving up human beings as plant food (it should be noted he beat out Jack Nicholson for the part, who had to settle for a scene-stealing role as a masochistic dental patient).
He said about his experience staging fight scenes in ‘Swamp Women’: ‘Most of the fight scenes between women somehow don't turn out right on the screen. Women don't have the same muscular coordination as men. On film the gals look like they're either playing volleyball or patty-cake. This leads the audience to laugh, something than every producer fears in an action thriller.’

Why he might not be annoying:

He got his start working stage production for his cousin, Buddy Rich.
He worked as a stage manager to Josephine Baker.
He was working at a gas station in Los Angeles when he was discovered by Wyott Ordung, who gave him a part in the Corman film ‘Monster from the Ocean Floor.’
Corman, only three years his senior, was impressed and cast him in many of his films over the next ten years.
He was versatile in that he could play both tough guys (ex-convict in 'Five Guns West,' juvenile delinquent in ‘Dope Street’) and weirdos (radioactive man in 'Day the World Ended,' Seymour in 'Little Shop') convincingly.
He veered away from acting in the late 1960’s, opting to write the script for the sci-fi comedy ‘Invasion of the Star Creatures’ and working behind the scenes on several films, including Roger Corman’s ‘Born Losers.’
His following grew exponentially over the decades as ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ saw its popularity grow from both midnight TV screenings and the hit Broadway musical and film adaptation that followed (with Rick Moranis in his part).
