    He publicly said he didn’t find the film to be racist despite its title, and compared it to ‘a black Indiana Jones.’
    He was dubbed ‘Negro’ in the film credits to ‘Beneath the Planet of the Apes.’
    He retired from film acting in 2000 after struggling to get offers in the prior decade.
