Why she might be annoying:

    She dislikes being called a comedian. ('I think of myself as a writer and a broadcaster.')
    After being mocked in boarding school for having a New York accent, she developed a 'posh' accent by imitating <54808 in 'Brief Encounter.'
    She ran unsuccessfully for Chancellor of Oxford (2003).
    She complained that Wikipedia volunteers are the 'kind of guy who has the time to sit and do it and doesn't have laundry to do and are actively editing women out.'

Why she might not be annoying:

    She earned first class honors in archeology and anthropology from Cambridge University.
    She wrote and performed in the first all-female show of the Cambridge Footlights.
    When she was working for the BBC in 1980, she was 'very unpleasantly groped' by a famous person (who she has so far declined to identify: 'When I told the staff afterwards what had happened, everybody thought it was amusing.'
    She, her partner, and her children had to go into hiding after she came out (1994): 'We had death threats, mainly from religious people who were very kindly going to kill me on God's behalf because He's busy.'
