Why he might be annoying:

His nickname as a teenager was 'the Ricker.'
He changed his professional name from 'Ricky' to 'Rick,' as if that would make people forget his child-star past (think again, Ricker).
Some 'NYPD Blue' fans despise him for replacing Jimmy Smits' character.
He reportedly quit 'NYPD Blue' to appease his paranoid, controlling wife.
He is a vocal Republican.
He has called President George W. Bush 'a fantastic guy.'
He is a member of the N.R.A.
For a good-looking guy, he has a surprisingly wrinkled, leathery face.

Why he might not be annoying:

He got a Porsche when he was fifteen.
He became a mormon (2001). Despite the overall popularity of his character, he left 'NYPD Blue' to spend more time with his family.
He and his wife designed and built their Montana ranch home themselves.
His wife once had a late-term miscarriage.
He enjoys ranching, and owns 800 head of cattle.
As a child star, he apparently got to meet Queen Elizabeth and the Pope (maybe they were big 'Silver Spoons' fans?).
