Music Producer

The Resume

    (July 29, 1936- )
    Born in Cairo, Egypt
Known by the stage name of Orlando
    Younger brother of Dalida
Founded the Orlando Productions record label in 1970

Why he might be annoying:

He moved to Paris to pursue a singing career like his sister, but never matched her success.
For years, until the 1990’s, his record label’s only major client was his sister.
His brother’s birth name is Orlando, which is the same as his stage name, making it confusing (although, he briefly went by Bruno Mory).
He has been called overprotective of his sister’s legacy and has been accused of milking it by having all of her songs perennially remixed.

Why he might not be annoying:

He and his sister grew up poor in Cairo.
While never reaching his sister’s heights, he did sing the well-known 1960's hit ‘Mustapha.’
He created the Orlando label in part as a vehicle for Dalida to release and have control over her musical output, after parting ways with Lucien Morisse and Eddie Barclay.
His record label’s later clients included Helene Segara and Indra.
He received the Knight of the French Order of Academic Palms from Francois Mitterrand in 2011.
As the head of his late sister’s estate, he is in charge of the singer’s YouTube channel (which is lit!).
He said of his sister: 'Dalida was not proud. Despite her status as an international star — an icon even today — she was always a humble woman.'
