    Born in Crawfordsville, Indiana
    Birth name was Joseph Stephenson Crane
    Appeared in the films 'Cry of the Werewolf' (1944), 'The Crime Doctor's Courage' (1945), and 'Tonight and Every Night' (1945)
    Opened the Luau restaurant on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills (1953)
    Launched the Kon Tiki restaurant chain in partnership with Sheraton Hotels (1958)
    Married Lana Turner and fathered her daughter Cheryl

Why he might be annoying:

    His (first) marriage to Tuner had to be annulled because he was still married to his previous wife.
    He and Turner remarried when his divorce was final and she was pregnant; it lasted 18 months.
    In addition to Turner, he married and divorced four other women.
    He was engaged to actress Lila Leeds when she was arrested for marijuana possession. He responded by breaking up with her and fleeing to Europe.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was voted 'most attractive' by his classmates during his senior year of high school.
    His acting career came to an abrupt end when he dated a dancer who was the girlfriend of Columbia Pictures mogul Harry Cohn.
    Along with Don the Beachcomber and Trader Vic, he popularized tiki culture.
    He testified on his daughter's behalf after she fatally stabbed Johnny Stompanato.
