    Married to saxophonist John Coltrane (1965-67)
    Recorded the albums 'A Monastic Trio' (1968), 'Huntington Ashram Monastery' (1969), 'Ptah, the El Daoud' (1970), 'Journey in Satchidananda' (1970), 'Universal Consciousness' (1972), 'World Galaxy' (1972), 'John Coltrane: Infinity' (1973), 'Illuminations' (with Carlos Santana, 1974), 'Eternity' (1975), 'Transcendence' (1977), 'Divine Songs' (1987) and 'Translinear Light' (2004)

Why she might be annoying:

    She and John had two kids while he was still married to his first wife.
    Some jazz fans blamed her for McCoy Tyner leaving Coltrane's band, making her the jazz world's Yoko Ono.
    After becoming a devotee of guru Sathya Sai Baba and opening an ashram, she adopted the name Turiyasangitananda.

Why she might not be annoying:

    She established a successful career outside the shadow of her famous husband.
    She was one of the few female instrumentalists in jazz.
    She founded the John Coltrane Foundation to award scholarships to young musicians (2001).
