Why she might be annoying:

One show biz reporter wrote, 'In the pantheon of psycho stage parents, no one can top terrifying Teri Shields.'
She arranged for Brooke to do a nude photo shoot at age 10 and to appear naked in the movie 'Pretty Baby' two years later.
All her acting gigs are in her daughter's movies. (Similarly, she also got herself hired as a producer of Brooke's film 'Sahara.')
She was banned from the sets of several of Brooke's films.
Brooke eventually fired her as her manager, partly over her domineering behavior, partly over her alcoholism.

Why she might not be annoying:

She said, 'I'm not a stage mother. I'm Brooke's mother. The most important thing is that I love Brooke and it's fun to make her happy.'
She did have some limits for how much she would let Brooke's jailbait sexuality be exploited: she turned down an offer for a teenaged Brooke to star in a Swedish lesbian film.
After she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, a National Enquirer reporter posed as a friend to check her out of an assisted living facility, with Brooke noting, 'They then drove my 75 year old mother around for a tabloid story.... The idea that the National Enquirer took advantage of her state is reprehensible and disgusting.'
