    Wrote ‘The House of Morgan’ (1990), ‘Titan: The Life of John D. Rockefeller’ (1998), ‘Alexander Hamilton’ (2005), ‘Washington: A Life’ (2010), and ‘Grant’ (2017)
    Speaker at the White House Correspondents Association dinner (2019)
    He began a PhD program but left without getting his doctorate.
    He described himself politically as a ‘disgruntled Democrat.’
    He said, ‘I always sympathize with people who complain about the length of my books. It would take me a year to get through one of them.’
    In high school, he was class president, valedictorian, and voted ‘most likely to succeed.’
    He won a National Book Award for ‘The House of Morgan’ and the Pulitzer Prize for Biography for ‘Washington: A Life.’
    He received the National Medal of the Humanities (2015).
    He served as historical consultant for Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Tony Award-winning musical ‘Hamilton,’ which was based on Chernow’s biography.
