    He sometimes held Sunday night staff meetings by telephone.
    Investors have expressed concern that he would be tempted by competitors in the technology sector.
    Gawker.com called him ‘the Most Powerful Gay Man in America’ — a step up from ‘the most powerful gay man in Silicon Valley,’ as if his sexuality mattered.
    A former colleague said, ‘I’ve seen him shred people. He asks you the questions he knows you can’t answer, and he keeps going and going. It isn’t funny and it’s not fun.’

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was the father of a homemaker and shipyard worker.
    He loves hiking.
    His pedigree included some of Apple’s rival companies (e.g. Compaq and IBM).
    He was personally hired by Steve Jobs, the man he would succeed at Apple.
    Having closed factories and warehouses worldwide, he enabled Apple to reduce inventory, streamline the supply chain, and increase profit margins — earning him post of chief operating officer in 2007.
    Having been misdiagnosed in 1996, he is active in raising funds for multiple sclerosis.
