The Resume

    (March 11, 1916-May 24, 1995)

Birth name was James Harold Wilson
    Member of Parliament (1945-83)

Why he might be annoying:

His attempts to limit inflation through wage-price controls led to the government being involved in repeated industrial disputes.
His awkward attempt to host the BBC talk show 'Friday Night, Sunday Morning' was chosen by Channel 4 as one of their '100 Moments of TV Hell.'
He sued The Move for libel after the band sent out a promotional postcard showing Wilson in bed with a female assistant (1967).
He publicly smoked a pipe as part of his 'man of the people' image, but in private preferred cigars.

Why he might not be annoying:

His grade on his final examination at Oxford was reportedly the highest ever recorded at the time.
He resisted pressure from Lyndon Johnson to commit British troops to Vietnam.
He banned foreign Scientologists from entering the UK, prompting L. Ron Hubbard to accuse him of being in cahoots with a conspiracy of Communists and psychiatrists.
He was married to Mary Baldwin for 55 years until his death.
