Why they might be annoying:

Their songs 'Nothing to Fear (But Fear Itself)' and 'Ain't This the Life?' glorify cocaine use.
They made Blender's list of the Worst Artists of All Time.
Blender also named their 'Only a Lad' album the worst of all time.
Their 'Little Girls' video premiered at the 8:00 prime time hour on MTV, but after receiving an outpour of angry phone calls from viewers who found it disturbing, it was moved to the 3:00 AM slot.
Their video for 'Insanity' was banned from MTV.
'Insanity' itself is a sick, demented, twisted song.
Danny Elfman wrote all the songs and was the lead singer for all of them, taking the attention away from the rest of the band.

Why they might not be annoying:

    Their sound evolved tremendously.
Danny Elfman's voice went from terrible to beautiful.
Their music is so unique it can't be categorized.
Unlike most bands, their horn section added to the quality of their sound.
Danny Elfman went on to enormous success as a film composer, with Boingo guitarist Steve Bartek as his orchestrator.
Elfman has scored all of Tim Burton's films with the exception of Ed Wood.
