The Resume

    (April 10, 1948- )
    Born in Videlia, Georgia
Cornerback for the Pittsburgh Steelers (1970-83)
    57 interceptions, 13 fumble recoveries
    Five-time Pro Bowler (1975-76, 1978-79, 1981)

Why he might be annoying:

He said, 'I always played with a chip on my shoulder.'
He specialized in 'bump and run' plays against receivers until the NFL adopted the 'Mel Blount Rule' banning such contact more than five yards from the scrimmage line (1978).
The youth home he founded near Pittsburgh was investigated multiple times by the state over its use of corporal punishment.
Among the incidents that were confirmed were a boy being confined to a horse trailer and children who had soiled their underwear being forced to wear the unwashed undies on their heads.

Why he might not be annoying:

The Mel Blount Rule did not slow him up too much, considering that three of his Pro Bowl appearances came after it was adopted.
He said about his eponymous rule, 'The older I get, the more I appreciate that I had that kind of impact on the game.'
After his football career, he became an equestrian, competing in cutting horse events; he was good enough to be inducted into the Cowboys of Color Hall of Fame (2015).
He had to fend off opposition from the Ku Klux Klan to open the youth home.
