Hockey Player

The Resume

    (July 6, 1930-January 24, 2021)
    Born in Skead, Ontario, Canada
Forward for the Toronto Maple Leafs (1949–71)
Head coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs (1988-89)
Hockey Hall of Fame inductee (1975)

Why he might be annoying:

His nickname during his playing career was 'The Chief.'
Despite a long association with the Leafs, he was never considered a star player by hockey pundits.
He recorded a career high 93 penalty minutes (1957-58).
He was part of an endless coaching carousel in Toronto during the 1980's.
He was another former Leaf player whose association with the Leafs ended on sour terms as a result of acrimony with then team owner Harold Ballard.

Why he might not be annoying:

He holds the Maple Leafs franchise record for longest tenure with the team.
He captained the Leafs to four Stanley Cup titles during the 1960's.
He served as the Leafs team captain for eleven seasons.
He scored the clinching goal which gave the Leafs their 1967 Stanley Cup title.
Despite not being considered a superstar by hockey pundits, he didn't mind taking a backseat to star players.
