Why she might be annoying:

She failed to make the 2008 US Olympic swim team in a performance described by Yahoo! Sports as 'an exercise in self-destruction.'
She said about that time, 'I wasn’t excited to race and to compete. I was more worried about what happened if I failed and who did I let down.... I crumbled under that.'
She said her favorite band is Nickelback.

Why she might not be annoying:

When she was 12, she became the youngest swimmer to compete at the US Olympic Trials.
A year later, she became the youngest swimmer to compete at the Goodwill Games.
When she was 16, she underwent heart surgery to correct supraventricular tachycardia, a condition that can cause a quickened pulse of up to 240 beats per minute.
Her physicians recommended that she always have a defibrillator poolside in case of emergency.
She won a gold medal and set a world record in the 100-meter butterfly despite the distraction of losing her swim cap midway through the race.
