Why he might be annoying:

His birth name means 'one who yawns.'
U.S. paratroopers started the trend of shouting his name during jumps after they saw a film about him at Fort Benning.
He fought both Mexican and United States troops.
It was thought that no bullet could kill him.
He kept turning himself in to the U.S. military, only to break out again and go on another warpath.
He eventually sold out, adopted Christianity and became a celebrity, selling souvenirs and photographs of himself.
He was never allowed to return to the land of his birth after his surrender.
Contrary to popular belief, he was never an actual tribal leader, but he spoke for the chief, who had a speech impediment and didn't want the whites to know it.
He would smoke while performing his cures.
He was considered a murderer and was greatly feared by settlers in Arizona and New Mexico.

Why he might not be annoying:

Mexican bandits murdered some of his relatives at a very young age.
He lead the last tribe of resistance to the United States government in the western frontier.
He was a master of escaping captors.
On his final escape, it took 5,000 American soldiers and 500 Indian scouts to track him down, and he still ended up turning himself in.
He held out the longest against the American government and as a result became the most famous Apache of all.
He rode with President Theodore Roosevelt during his inaugural parade (1905).
He is a legend.
He remains a popular figure in American cinema and television.
