The Resume

Why Chicago Hope might be annoying:

There was too much cast changeover!
In fact, much of the core cast departed after the fifth season.
Coincidentally, E.R., a medical series also set in Chicago, premiered a day after 'Hope.'
In fact, 'Chicago Hope' and 'E.R.' both aired in the same Thursday 10 PM timeslot during their freshman season. This instigated a 'battle of the medical dramas' by media outlets.
Eventually, 'E.R.' overshadowed the show critically and ratings-wise.
Constant changes in timeslots and creative departures led to the decline of the series.

Why Chicago Hope might not be annoying:

It helped launch the careers of many famous actors and actresses.
The series traveled into uncharted and taboo depths by showing a teenager's breast after her character underwent reconstructive surgery. This was generally seen as relevant to the subject matter and went relatively uncriticized.
It was also the first series on mainstream television to utilize the expletive 'shit' uncensored.
In 1998, it became the first weekly scripted series to be televised in high-definition.
The show won seven Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe Award.
