Why she might be annoying:

    Early in her career, she took an extended break from pro tennis (September, 2014, to February, 2016), noting, 'It became a bit of a slog for me, and I wasn't enjoying my tennis as much as I would have liked to.'
    She decided not to defend her French Open title because of concerns about travel during the COVID-19 epidemic.
    She was able to retain her #1 ranking at the end of 2020 despite not playing for more than half of the year because the WTA (Women's Tennis Association) changed its ranking criteria.

Why she might not be annoying:

    At age twelve, she was practicing against adult men.
    During her hiatus from tennis, she took up cricket and was signed by the Brisbane Heat, despite having had no formal training in the sport (2015).
    She was twice named Female Sportsperson of the Year at the National Dreamtime Awards, a ceremony honoring Indigenous Australians (2017-18).
    She was named Young Australian of the Year (2020).
