    He went by Moe, despite the fact his given name was Marion.
    He tried to copy the likes of George Jones and Hank Williams early in his career.
    He butted heads with Culture Club, alleging they took the guitar riffs from 'Where's the Dress?' for their single 'Karma Chameleon.'
    He once stated he would be dead if he would have actually lived out the songs he sang about.
    His commercial appeal dropped off considerably after the 1980's.

    He initially pursued a career in rodeo and bull riding, before music.
    He worked in a sheet metal plant, while recording albums on the side.
    He performed in various honky-tonk venues in the San Antonio area, before landing a mainstream record deal.
    He and Joe Stampley recorded various collaborations together, earning three Vocal Duo of the Year Awards between 1979 and 1981.
    He, along with his brother Mike were inducted into the Texas Rodeo Cowboy Hall of Fame (2007).
