Why Eugene, Oregon might be annoying:

The location where Eugene Franklin Skinner set up the first cabin was known as 'Skinner's Mudhole.'
Columbia College, its first educational institution, was destroyed by a fire and it wasn't built again.
It has a big original population filled with hippies.
Its oldest downtown retail business, Luckey's Club Cigar Store, once excluded women patrons.
It was referred to as 'the area of the highest grass pollen counts in the USA' due to track athletes who were having issues with high pollen allergies while competing there.
It lost the title to Salem several times for the second largest city in Oregon (2005-2007).
A group of anarchists from Eugene came to Seattle, Washington to be involved in the WTO Ministerial Conference of 1999 protest activity, resulting Eugene to be called 'the anarchist capital of the United States.

It is surrounded by beautiful nature scenery.
'National Lampoon's Animal House' and several track and field based films were shot there.
The University of Oregon Ducks have popular rivalries with the Oregon State University Beavers and the University of Washington Huskies in football.
Autzen Stadium is one of the loudest stadiums in college football.
It's where the waffle soles of running shoes were made and the beginnings of the Nike shoe corporation took place.
It hosted the Oregon Festival of American Music every summer since 1992.
It has recreational opportunities that people enjoy such as bicycling, running/jogging, rafting and kayaking.
It is the birthplace of Eugene Lazowski, the doctor who saved 8,000 Polish Jews from Nazi persecution during World War II.
