Why he might be annoying:

Although he is often identified as Scottish, he was in fact born in Rome.
He was unable to drum up enough support for his cause in France and England.
He decided to fight the English troops at Culloden in 1746, against the advice of his general.
His troops were utterly defeated at Culloden, thus ending his campaign for the throne.
He spent the rest of his life in exile, first in France and then in Rome.
He eventually became an alcoholic.
His marriage was miserable and his wife left him.

Why he might not be annoying:

As a Catholic, he was barred from the English throne by an act of Parliament.
He actually had more English and Scottish ancestry than the ruling Hanovers (who were German).
He had a stronger claim to the throne than the Hanovers.
He received a lot of support from the Highland Scottish clans.
He captured the cities of Perth and Edinburgh.
On the TV show 'Highlander, Duncan MacLeod is depicted as a supporter of Bonnie Prince Charlie.
