    Leigh Stephens, guitar
    Paul Whaley, drums
    Best known for the single ‘Summertime Blues' and album ‘Vincebus Eruptum' (both 1968)

Why they might be annoying:

    They were a one-hit wonder.
    They named themselves after a strain of LSD.
    They changed personnel so rapidly that the album ‘New! Improved! Blue Cheer' (1969) had different guitarists on sides one and two.

Why they might not be annoying:

    They are considered pioneers of heavy metal.
    They were a six-piece band until they saw the Jimi Hendrix Experience at Monterey and became a trio.
    Their manager said they ‘play so hard and heavy they make cottage cheese out of the air.'
