Why she might be annoying:

    She's a Mary Lou Retton lookalike.
    She married and divorced three times.
    Despite what some think, she is of no relation to fellow aviator Chuck Yeager.
    Dick Rutan described their nine days together in a bathtub sized cockpit as 'the worst date ever.'
    She and Rutan were both judges at the 1988 Miss Universe pageant.
    Dick Rutan sued her in 1995, alleging that she had misappropriated memorabilia and funds from Voyager. The lawsuit was dropped in 1996.

Why she might not be annoying:

    She earned her flying license at the age of 26.
    She set a new women's speed record for the 2,000-kilometer closed course in early 1982.
    She set the open-distance record of 2,427.1 statute miles using the VariEze in the fall of 1984.
    She and Dick Rutan both set distance records in the Rutan VariEze and Long-EZ planes, designed by Dick's brother Burt Rutan.
    She was the first woman to have been listed in an absolute aviation distance category.
    When she and Rutan were initially unable to find a commercial sponsor for their round-the-world flight, she started the Voyager Impressive People (VIP) program which became the major source of money to build, test, and fly their aircraft.
    She almost doubled the old distance record set by a Boeing B-52 strategic bomber in 1962.
    She received the Presidential Citizens Medal from President Reagan, which she shared with Rutan, and the Collier Trophy (becoming its first female recipient).
    Flying magazine ranked her (with Rutan) No. 33 on their list of the 51 Heroes of Aviation.
