Why he might be annoying:

He never lost his heavy Russian accent.
Despite the accent, Hollywood cast him as just about every nationality there was, including French-Canadian, Arab, Gypsy, Mexican and Chinese.
The voice of Boris Badenov in Rocky and Bullwinkle was based on him.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was chosen from 500 applicants to study with the legendary Constantin Stanislavski.
He worked multiple times with Cecil B. DeMille and Orson Welles.
He won the first Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor.
Lots of character actors could snag a couple of Oscar nominations and a Golden Globe, but to do it while sounding like the 'must kill moose and squirrel' guy? Now, that's talent!
