It cashes in on people's fears of being overweight.
The contestants start working together on teams before being forced to compete against each other one-on-one.
Its name is demeaning and insulting.
Contestants vote each other out of the competition.
If we really wanted to see what obese people looked like after intense workouts, we could just watch diet pill commercials.
It is a reality TV show.
It spawned merchandise such as 'The Biggest Loser Cookbook' and 'The Biggest Loser Exercise Video.'

Why The Biggest Loser might not be annoying:

It has helped many people lose weight.
Its success has spawned many international versions.
The trainer who aids the winning contestant wins $100,000.
It ran six seasons over eight years.
