Why he might be annoying:

He got way too excited about common astronomical events, like spotting the satellites of Jupiter.
He sounded and acted like Rip Taylor.

Why he might not be annoying:

He got youngsters interested in astronomy.
He changed his website name from 'Star Hustler' to 'Star Gazer' so children would not accidentally end up on porn sites through search engines.
He allowed people to tape his show and show it to the public, it can even be taken off satellite feeds (we applaud that).
The show was also provided at no charge to all PBS stations.
