The Resume

Reside in the Central Park Zoo, New York City
    Chinstrap penguins
Were given an egg to hatch, and raised a chick named Tango
Inspired the children's book 'And Tango Makes Three' (2005) by Justin Richardson, Peter Parnell and Henry Cole

Why they might be annoying:

'And Tango Makes Three' drew protests from conservative parents.
Silo left Roy for a female named Scrappy (2005), leading him to be adopted as a poster boy for 'ex-gay' ministries.
Richardson admitted, 'All penguins look exactly alike…. Roy lies on his tummy after eating, but other than that, it's hard to know who's who.'

Why they might not be annoying:

The egg they were given to hatch had been abandoned by a mixed-gender penguin couple.
Zookeeper Rob Gramzay said 'They did a great job' of raising Tango
They were together for six years, an unusually long time since chinstrap penguins normally engage in serial pair-bonding.
