They were left high and dry at a critical gig.
They were the opening act for the Kinks at a disastrous Copenhagen show.
The ‘horse’ in ‘White Horse’ refers to heroin and the ‘pony’ to an allegedly less harmful drug.

Why they might not be annoying:

They were in the vanguard of the New Wave movement.
Thanks to Prince’s efforts, ‘White Horse’ went on to be one of the most heavily sampled songs around — especially by the 2 Live Crew.
They composed several film soundtracks — including one that scored them a Danish Oscar (known as a Robert, 2002).
They are accomplished minimalist painters.
