Why he might be annoying:

He missed a significant portion of the 1993 season due to injuries.
He was arrested at the Canadian border for possession of steroids (1995).
Some Canadian football pundits felt he got off easy after the charges against him were dropped.
He came off as being aloof, selfish and entitled.
He got pissed off when he lost the CFL West Division Most Outstanding Player nomination to Doug Flutie.
He left the Stampeders on sour terms, after he refused to take the team’s suggestion to retire.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was considered one of the CFL’s top receivers during his prime years.
He was the primary receiving target for both Doug Flutie and Jeff Garcia in Calgary.
He was a member of two Grey Cup championship teams during his career (1992, 1998).
He retired as the CFL’s all-time leader in career yardage (since broken).
Despite leaving the Stampeders on sour terms, he made amends with the team and allowed them to retire his #18.
