Why he might be annoying:

When he was first appointed as associate professor at Harvard, he was so nervous teaching that he vomited before each class.
He was accused of downplaying JFK's affairs to burnish the president's reputation.
He declared that McGovern was 'leading a constituency as broad as Roosevelt's coalition in 1932,' after which McGovern lost 49 states.
He controversially compared Afrocentrism to the Ku Klux Klan.

Why he might not be annoying:

With William Fulbright, he was one of only two Kennedy advisors to argue against the Bay of Pigs invasion.
He won two Pulitzer Prizes and two National Book Awards.
He commented, 'I have lived through interesting times and had the luck of knowing some interesting people.'
